Thanks - you’re not wrong, however, from my perspective the training isn’t insurmountable, and it’s limited to the introductory year (or two, as you can handle). I’m not sure about EMS, but in the Fire Department you only need to go as far as you’re comfortable/able — for example, the Fire Police: although they’re required to take Fire police training, it’s not nearly as much time spent as in Interior or Exterior training. There’s also the Auxiliary, which provides support and fund raising for the fire department in many ways, and requires no training.
